Broker Claims Assist was founded with the goal of providing a dedicated service designed to assist Insurance Brokers in preparing and managing insurance claims on behalf of their clients.

Haydn Nichols — Principal Claims Consultant

Haydn Nichols brings more than 24 years of experience across insurance claims, insurance broking and compliance, providing a unique understanding of the claims process from both the insurer's and broker's perspective.

Before becoming an insurance broker, Haydn spent almost 10 years in general insurance claims, working in claims negotiation and claims management roles. Over the following 14 years, he has held senior insurance broking, technical claims and compliance positions, developing extensive experience in commercial claims management, policy interpretation, regulatory obligations and broker-client advocacy.

This combination of insurer, broking and compliance experience enables Haydn to provide practical technical claims support while understanding the commercial realities faced by insurance brokers. Whether discussing a complex coverage issue, reviewing an insurer's decision or assisting with a significant commercial claim, his focus is on helping brokers navigate challenging claims while protecting their client relationships and meeting their professional obligations.

About us

Broker Claims Assist provides two specialist services to the insurance industry.

For insurance brokers, we offer ongoing technical claims support through our Claims Partner subscription service, providing practical guidance, claims strategy discussions and experienced assistance with complex or unusual claims.

For insureds and referring insurance brokers, we provide specialist claims preparation services. Acting under the authority of the insured and, where applicable, the referring insurance broker, we assist in preparing and presenting claims to help ensure they are properly documented, supported and progressed throughout the claims process.

Broker Claims Assist does not provide insurance broking services, legal advice or financial advice and does not replace the role of the referring insurance broker. The referring broker remains responsible for insurance advice and the ongoing broker-client relationship.

Broker Claims Assist is committed to acting ethically, independently and transparently in all engagements.

Haydn Nichols is a Director of both Broker Claims Assist and Total Protection Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd (TPIB). This common directorship is disclosed to ensure transparency and to allow clients and referring brokers to make informed decisions regarding our engagement.

Broker Claims Assist operates as a separate business providing specialist claims preparation, administration and coordination services. It does not provide insurance broking services or seek to replace the role of the referring insurance broker.

Broker Claims Assist measures its success by the strength of its relationships with referring brokers—not by acquiring their clients. Our business model is founded on supporting brokers, protecting their client relationships and enhancing the claims experience for all parties.

Where an actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest arises, it will be disclosed promptly and managed in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. Where a conflict cannot be appropriately managed, Broker Claims Assist may decline to accept or continue the engagement.
